Welcome to my website! I'm Pam Thomas, a lifelong resident of beautiful, mountainous northeastern Pennsylvania. I've been an artist from the time I could hold a pencil, thanks to my parents who provided me with reams of paper and other supplies! I spent hours drawing every day. As a teenager, I became fascinated with letterforms. A college lettering class and some informal calligraphy instruction heightened my interest. I was fortunate to do some sign painting and design work, as well as calligraphy, while staying home with our son and daughter. During this time, I began working in pastels with a group that met in my in-laws' renovated barn. While I consider myself primarily a lettering artist, I now enjoy working in both media. Sometimes I find a quote that just has to go with a particular scene and I combine the two. Some of my more recent work is available in limited edition prints and I also do commission work, which has led to some unusual requests! I've painted memorial rocks for pets and a business logo on a briefcase. I've had the honor of having my artwork engraved onto a gravestone!
Besides doing artwork, I enjoy quilting, scrapbooking, photographing, and spending time with our five grandchildren, and traveling with my husband, who is building me a dream studio. Last, but not least, I have to praise God, with whom all things are possible!
My calligraphy work is done with black ink and watercolor pencils on white parchment paper, then matted with acid-free mats in your choice of colors. Each piece is individually rendered to your specifications. When I receive your order and payment verification, I will email an invoice with the appropriate format for you to fill in the information such as names, dates, mat color, etc. If I am not clear on something, I will email you again to verify the information. On this form you can specify anything special you would like to include on the piece, space permitting.
My original pastels are reproduced as Giclee (pronounced "zhee-clay") prints, the highest quality prints available today. They offer richness, detail and depth that sets them apart from traditional offset lithography.
I hope you enjoy browsing through my website - and I also hope you will be placing an order soon! Please allow at least four weeks if it is needed for a special occasion. Creating one-of-a-kind pieces for special occasions is one of my favorite things to do and I would love to work with you to do just that!
